"Steppin' Out" is a dynamic collaboration between jazz vocalist Kurt Elling and the WDR Big Band, released as the inaugural single on Elling's independent label, Big Shoulders Records, in February 2025. This vibrant rendition of Joe Jackson's 1982 hit showcases Elling's rich baritone and inventive scat singing, set against Michael Abene's energetic big band arrangement. The track serves as a preview to an upcoming album with the WDR Big Band, slated for release in the fall.
